Description

This simulation shows the distribution of the isotope Helium-3 on the surface of the moon.

Purpose

If nuclear fusion can ever be harnessed for energy production, then Helium-3 will become the most perfect fuel source that the world has ever known. It enables nuclear fusion with absolutely no radiation - no neutrons, no pollution, no radioactive byproducts. It could be the ideal fuel source for the next century. Unfortunately, it doesn't exist on Earth. Luckily, there is plenty of it on the surface of the moon. This map shows where you can find it.

Features

  • Moon map labels
You can toggle a set of labels showing prominant lunar features as well as NASA Apollo landing sites.

  • Moon phase control
You can change the lighting to show any phase of the moon from a full disk to a thin crescent.

  • Full 3D moon model
Using this simulation, you can view the moon as a complete globe rather than just a disk.
